15 Hours With Eric

Starting tomorrow, you’ll be seeing a series of 5 posts that cover a 15 hour time frame in the day of my life.  I’m keeping a very detailed symptom journal over this 3 week period for my Lyme Dr, so figured this would be a good time to use that to show a little of what I go through in a day.

I picked a good day to do this, as it was filled with all kinds of events, from when I woke up until when I went to sleep.  When I let one of my best friends read over the first 3 parts she said it was a real eye opener into my day.  She’s one of the people closest to me, but still didn’t know half of what a day with Lyme is like.  I hope it’s an eye opener to other people too, including my own family and friends.  To help people understand how I can’t do certain things, make certain events, and the reasons why – which will be shown as I take you on this day long journey with me.

I’m excited about it…it was hard to keep the entire day, monitoring every pill I took, every powdered supplement I’d make, every headache, every ache and pain all mingled with my daily activities of that day, which included a dressing change for my PICC line, and the beginnings of a problem with the line.

My days seem very boring to me, but I’m used to them, and have been having them for 18 months now.  Maybe that’s what I’m really bored of, doing this day after day.  But you will see my day my not be exciting, but it is anything but boring, and very complicated.  For someone who suffers neurological side effects of this disease and memory problems, it takes a lot of work every week to keep track of everything and make sure everything is done right.

But my only hope to get better, is to do what I have to do.  Now many who do not have Lyme can see what a day is like for one person with Lyme, and hopefully help people understand a little better what we go through.  My friend said most people think what I’m going through is like having the flu, and just being in bed feeling sick.  But this opened her eyes to what really goes on in that sick bed.

There are 5 parts to it to keep them short, I will begin posting them tomorrow, along with a link for all 5 together.  I look forward to sharing this with people, hope you’ll get something out of it.
